Shakira Welcomes Son, Milan Jan 23rd 2013, 14:28 I know the last thing you want to read about first thing in the morning is a birth announcement. (As if your Facebook status isn't already inundated with ultrasound photos, pictures of engagement rings and a shot of someone's breakfast quiche.) But the woman with the hips that don't lie has given birth. Shakira welcomed her first child, Milan Piqué Mebarak. The baby boy was born yesterday, January 22nd at 9:36pm, in Barcelona, Spain. The little bugger was about 6 lbs. 6 oz and both Milan and Shakira are doing well. A rep for the singer confirmed the birth with an announcement on her website. Along with the details of the time and date, the pronunciation was also highlighted for all those confused by a name with more than one syllable. The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification. Congrats to Shakira and baby daddy, Gerard Piqué!
