New 'Star Wars' Movie Announced For 2015! Oct 30th 2012, 21:05 "Star Wars: Episode 7" has just been announced for a 2015 release! The news comes following the announcement that Disney has just purchased Lucasfilm for $4.05 BILLION! A dump truck filled with cash has just been ordered to drop off at George Lucas' house… as if he needed any more money! In a statement Lucas revealed, "It’s now time for me to pass ‘Star Wars’ on to a new generation of filmmakers.” Although he is passing the baton, Lucas would still remain as a creative consultant on all new "Star Wars" movies according to the announcement. Does the franchise really need more films? Looks like Disney is going to squeeze every dollar they can out of this deal.
