For the second time in four months, the federal judge slated to preside over mobster James "Whitey" Bulger's murder trial next year has refused the defense team's demand that he step down because of his prior service as an assistant U.S. attorney during Bulger's reign of terror.

U.S. District Court Judge Richard G. Stearns said in a three-page order issued yesterday: "When (Bulger's) case was randomly assigned to me in 1999, it became my duty to see it through fairly and expeditiously, and that is the duty I will faithfully execute." read rest  Here on the Boston Herald
